Are you ready to experience some of the greatest whitetail hunting in North America? Operating in what is considered to be the "Golden Triangle" of Alberta our outfitting area has been known for years to consistently produce trophy whitetail for years past and present. We target only mature whitetail allowing us to run a properly managed area and sell to our clients an honest service. 8700 square miles of prime whitetail habitat allows us to look at many options for trophy deer and for our clients to have multiple targets. We encourage our clients to prepare for all-day sits in comfortable enclosed stands and bring a flat shooting rifle you are comfortable to shoot at distances up to 350 yards.
We expect our clients to be able to sit long hours on the stand, we equip every tripod stand or elevated box blind with a comfortable swivel chair and ask our clients to bring a shooting rest they are comfortable with. We strongly encourage all hunters to bring the recommended clothing for this hunt as it has been proven through successful past hunts, a detailed gear list can be provided by us upon request. Our method of hunting whitetails varies immensely as we are always staying on top of our target deer, so we ask our clients to expect to sometimes be moved in the heat of the moment and deploy tactics like ground blinds or lock-on stands. We run countless trail cameras and scouting is year-round for us, so we will always have target deer for every client that books with Alberta Dark Horn. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly to go over any details we may have not covered.
Moose hunting like you've never experienced before. These hunts coincide with our whitetail and mule deer hunts allowing for a mixed bag opportunity. Bull moose typically after the rut tend to move into a strict feeding pattern. Once located you will continue to see them in the same general area the entire duration of your hunt. These hunts are fitting for the hunter seeking a trophy Canadian moose hunt without the physical demands of hiking or calling. We often set up stands in our moose spots looking over food sources or travel routes. We also cover ground by ATV or pickup truck and use a spot and stalk method. You should come on this moose hunt with the expectations of having an opportunity at a 35'' moose or better. We will always do our best to target moose larger of course and for the seasoned moose hunter whos willing to put in the time, you can have an opportunity at trophy class Canadian moose. For these hunts, we again ask all clients to be prepared for the unexpected. We at Alberta Dark Horn have and always will stay adaptive so that being said we often use different methods on our November moose hunts that can be anything from still hunts, stand hunts, tracking, calling, etc.
Wolf hunting in the northern boreal forest of Alberta is like none other. The howl of a big timber wolf in the early mornings will send chills down the spine of any seasoned hunter. These hunts are conducted during the winter months when the pelts are in their prime and the wolves are on strict feeding routines to endure the Alberta winters. We start bait sites well before our clients arrive to get the wolves used to the location and blind setups. our area has a healthy population due to the remoteness and lack of hunters pursuing wolves. The timber wolf is one of North America's most elusive trophy animals to obtain. We ask our clients to prepare for the most mentally grueling hunt you will ever be apart of. Wolf hunting over bait is not for the hunter who does not enjoy sitting long periods of time, that being said we will do everything in our power to make your hunt as comfortable as possible. We use insulated, heated stands with a solid shooting rest to allow for the hunter to be totally comfortable with taking the shot. All shots will be no more than 300 yards and no less than 100 yards, so having a gun you are comfortable with is extremely important.
Alberta Dark Horn operates the exclusive rights to the mule deer in this region of Alberta, saying that we operate on a smaller scale than most only taking two mule deer out of our outfitting territory. With only a couple hunters each season chasing these deer we target only trophy B&C bucks. keeping on track of what ADH is known for, honest quality service that is second to none. the mule deer in our outfitting territory are also on a draw for residents leaving them to feel little to no pressure. The primary method of these hunts is spot and stalk. This hunt can also be paired with both our moose and whitetail hunts allowing you to target many trophy animals we have to offer.
